May 14, 2015In recent blog posts we’ve highlighted how on board courier (OBC) cargo services help to keep industries like the automotive and electronics sectors running on schedule, with time-critical shipments of manufacturing materials.
This week we take a look at some examples of the more unusual hand-carry cargo our on board couriers transport on flights around the world.

Nikolai Bergmann, Global Business Development Director for Chapman Freeborn OBC, says:
“A large percentage of the on board courier work we do is for sectors like the automotive industry which operate on a just-in-time basis, but we also do a lot of ad hoc work delivering more unusual items.”
“Our hand-carry couriers have flown everything from food and beverage samples to high-end jewellery and other wearable items – whether it’s a designer dress for a fashion show or a pair of football boots for one of the world’s top players.”
He adds:
“Speed is usually a key factor in why clients use our hand-carry courier services for ad hoc shipments – but it’s not just about how fast an OBC can deliver an item. Particularly when delivering prototypes it is important to deliver the item in a safe and secure way without it passing through several different hands. Showcasing a product sample in a new market can mean big business for our clients.”
